On British TV Fidelis has appeared in Jeeves & Wooster, Mr Majeika, As Time Goes By, Big Women, Dead Gorgeous and various other series.

But her major achievement has been in the theatre.

She was on a list of seven best actresses of the year (with Maureen Lipman, Natalia Makarova, Julie Covington, Margaret Tyzack, Linda Bassett and Frances Barber) in The Observer for her work at Glasgow Citizens Theatre.

Fidelis has appeared in classic plays from Massinger and Fletcher to Brecht, Chekhov, Coward, Shaw, Lorca, Wilde, Genet, and Joe Orton.

She has played everything from monarchs (Queen Elizabeth I in Schiller’s Mary Stuart) to prostitutes (Metella in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne)

She directed the sell-out show DRAMA AT INISH at London’s Finborough theatre.  The play by Lennox Robinson is about a touring theatre troupe who cause havoc in a small Irish village.  The 13 strong ensemble included Celia Imrie, Paul O’Grady, Juliet Cadzow, Rupert Frazer and Jack Klaff, followed by Celia Imrie’s revue Laughing Matters at the Crazy Coqs and the St James Studio.

She appeared as Matron in the movie, Never Let Me Go.

Fidelis has recently returned from a stint at Granada Artist in Residence at the University of California.

Her latest film appearance is as Ann in Alan Rickman’s A Little Chaos,starring Kate Winslet
